What I Needed to Say Poem V3
[[I know I already have a version of this before but I wanted to add my newest version because I think it's slightly better than my other one. Let me know if you agree!]]
For two years
We were together
From 9th grade Snow Days
To the day where you
Held my heart gently
Then threw it on the ground
Which it then was severed
A glass globe covered in ice collides with the ground
"It just hasn't been going well"
You began, looking at the ground, unwilling to see my experession
"It's just not fun anymore"
A piercing jolt stabs my body
"So I'm sorry but I'm breaking up with you"
Then a simple pat on the shoulder
As you apparently thought appropriate to cripple my spirit
You then walked away, out of my sight
I was consumed by tears of hurt, sorrow, and confusion
However
I should have said something
Anything
To tell you how I felt
Tos how that I was the victim
Of your treachery
To think that days before
You said to me "I love you too:
That statement meant nothing to your mind
The same as seeing a person lying, helpless, on the street
And walking right by without a glance
Instead of spending that day crying,
(A vision of me wasting away appears)
I should have been stronger
Maybe have gotten a little angry
I needed to tell you
You're arrogant
A know-it-all
That you aren't the greatest person on the Earth
And no, the world would not be better
If they were all like you
But sadly
I lost my chance
To finally speak my mind to you
Because now it's been awhile
Since that day
And now it wouldn't mean anything
Besides
Someday you may hear what's needed
By another person
A revelation of your aura
But it won't be me because I've moved on
I found someone else
My pain put away in a tiny box of my memories
Although like a faded memory it reappers
Once in awhile
But I easily lay it back and lock the door into it's tiny storage place

55-Word Short Story V.3
The time is late and our last moments approach before he would have to leave. Unexplained nervousness is in the air, but at the same time excitement and calm. My eyes begin to drop closed. He caresses my cheek and my eyes awaken. His face near, our body’s close, anticipation, thoughts scrambled. Finally, a kiss.

Warm Up!
My ideal place would definitely have to be at a place like my cabin but just a little modified. First of all my cabin is off a nice quiet lake that isn't full of other people who don't own cabins there. Trees surround it of different varieties giving it a beautiful sense of tranquility and a fire pit large enough for all my friends to sit around and a place where you can see across the lake and the stars at night. Generally the only things you can hear are small waves against the rocks, the wind blowing in the trees, loons, bald eagles, and small birds. Everything in that sense can stay the same except I would want a sandy beach instead of mostly rocks. Like my cabin it would have a hammock where I could spend all day or even all night in because in my ideal place it is the perfect temperature: A little on the warm side with a nice breeze but my hammock lies in a sunny spot in the backyard where the sun can blanket me in it's warmth. My hammock also in a perfect spot to star-gaze at night. Inside my cabin there is a room full of my favorite books and books I've never even heard of but are my favorite genres and authors. In that same library I would have a huge comfy chair with a nice coffee table next to it where I can either lay a waiting book or something to drink and a snack. The wall facing the lake would have only windows where I can gaze at the coming sunset. Also in that room, along the windows, would be a soft place to either sit and watch the world or just lie and relax in the atmosphere but indoors. That would be a place too where I could draw and have my camera at the ready in case any animals come walking by. The last area that I would want that isn't like my cabin is a basement with half wood and half carpet [[so my feet don't freeze if I'm walking on it]]. The wood part would have a table and chairs either for food, playing cards, or fun games with friends. The carpet part would have a large 90 degree shaped couch [[to have in a corner]] and a love seat across from it. In the middle is a good sized t.v. for those nights [[or even days]] where you want to stay inside and relax with a good movie. Breakfast is a big meal, lunch is just snacks, and dinner isn't too large because you have to save room for dessert [[like strawberry or cookies & cream ice cream: my 2 favorites]].
I better stop now or it'll never end hahaha. Hope you enjoy my ideal place!

55-Word Short Story V2
Late at night with our last moments approaching. A feeling of unexplained nervousness in the air, but at the same time excitement and calm just by being near. My eyes begin to drop closed. He caresses my cheek and my eyes awaken. His face near, our body’s close, anticipation, thoughts scrambled. Then, finally, a kiss.
[[In my story I'm not exactly sure about the word "near." I originally had "close" but didn't want to have "close" twice so if you have any suggestions please let me know!]]

A Time My Life Changed--Poem V3
Independence
The key is in the ignition
My hands on the wheel
I check to make sure everything is in place:
Water, wallet, and my purse full of things:
A bag of pretzels, directions, a pair of gloves, a book
(In case I stop and boredom consumes me)
My nerves are strung like a stressed violin; my mind scrambling with anticipation
Here I am about to embark on the longest journey on my own
The road is decided by me, although I must follow the same path to reach the end
I start the car, raising it from its slumber, and drive onto the street
Just my iPod and me, strolling down the highways, freeways, and interstates
However I get nervous and begin to slightly tremble, horrible thoughts explode inside
How could my parents let me do this?
I’m only 17! I shouldn’t be out driving in this dangerous world!
A semi goes by and cars around me honk at one another
(I agree with myself even more than before)
My speedometer reads 75, the highest it’s ever gone
This is too much; I don’t think I can do this.
What if I get lost?
Is that black ice?
That car looks really close...What if I crash?
This is crazy!
But then I relax and breathe…I’m 17. Plenty old to go driving into the beautiful country
Shy hills of farmland, nests of snow, horses prancing in the distance
The sun is high and the sky is the epitome of blue
The smell of new grass slithers through my window and soothes me
A calm acoustic song begins on my iPod and makes me smile
My body is composed and my shoulders rest comfortably as I keep driving
No one is around and I enjoy the moments alone
Moments of thoughtfulness
Thinking of my destination
Pondering my future
How I relate to the song that I hear
I could do this again; hundreds maybe thousands of times!
Just driving to places I want to go and to see people I want to see
I’m ready for the moments like this that will be coming up fast:
Moments of independence

Simply Skiing 2nd and Final Version
WILL
Nate why are you staring at that fire anyway?
NATE
[Without looking up]
I’m just thinking.
WILL
Weeellll…? Come on man what are you thinking about?
PAUL
Dude, you know what he’s thinking about. It’s not everyday the guy gets asked to a dance. Actually, it’s never happened before!
TENA
[Shoots up excitedly from her book to look over at NATE]
You mean Joy actually asked you? Wow I’m impressed! It had to happen though eventually. [Notices NATE’s nervous look] Aren’t you excited at all Nate?
NATE
[He raises his head]
Well I haven’t exactly told her my answer yet. I don’t want to be in a relationship and I don’t want to hurt her feelings.
TENA
Just go as friends then. I mean you’ll have to talk to her sooner or later.
NATE
That’s probably my biggest problem.
[Both WILL and PAUL burst out in laughter; nudging each others’ sides at NATE’s fate]
PAUL
Didn’t you just say the other day that you’re not afraid of anything? The guy wouldn’t blink an eye if he had to jump out of a plane, but have him talk to a girl and he’ll run in the other direction.
[NATE throws a glove in PAUL’s direction but instead hits WILL. This triggers an onset of back and forth throwing of each other’s gloves and hats]
WILL
Coward!
PAUL
Whoos!
NATE
At least I got asked!
PAUL
I wouldn’t want to go anyway. [He laughs and raises his fist in the air as a glove hits his target]
TENA
Boys…[She sighs and returns to her book]
[The guys end their friendly banter and continue with their conversation from before]
WILL
Anyways man, are you going to say yes or no?
NATE
I already told you, I don’t know.
PAUL
Do you like her?
NATE
Yeah but-
WILL
Then what’s the problem?
NATE
[NATE moves over to sit next to PAUL and begins to bang his head against the table slowly but with little force]
I…[bang]…just…[bang]…don’t…[bang]…know…[bang].
TENA
Nate it’s your senior year. Besides you don’t even know if she likes you more than a friend. Stop being such a drama king.
NATE
[He rolls his eyes]
Thanks. That’s true though. Maybe-
[JOY suddenly enters and everyone jolts with a start. NATE jumps so hard he falls off of his chair and flies to the ground. The playing cards WILL and PAUL were playing with earlier explode into the air and float to the ground. In her haste to act normal, TENA slams her book closed. JOY is frozen in place still not fully inside of the chalet. Everyone is staring at JOY while JOY merely looks from one face to the next.]
TENA
[With a slight stutter she breaks the silence]
He-he-hey Joy. What’s up?
JOY
[Suspicion is evident in her voice but her expression is neutral as she answer.]
Nothing…anything going on here?
TENA
[She laughs loudly…too loudly]
Of course not. What would make you think that?
JOY
[Glances over at NATE who is still on the ground and PAUL and WILL who are picking up the cards that have finally settled.]
Just a guess. Well anyways I actually came in here to let you know that Coach is wondering why you guys aren’t out on the course skiing.
PAUL
Yeah we’ll be out in a bit. Once we pick up all these cards Will dropped I’ll be able to get my stuff on. [Glares at Will.]
WILL
Hey don’t get on my back just because Nate here couldn’t help but jump at the sight of-
[Before Will can finish his sentence NATE is already over to his spot putting a hand to his mouth.]
NATE
What he means is…that ah…that I was…that I was surprised that the door opened so…suddenly.
JOY
[Looks at WILL who has pushed NATE’s hand away and wipes his mouth off with disgust and then brings her attention back to NATE]
Yeah. I can see that. Well I’ll meet you guys outside.
[JOY hurries back outside and even before the door closes WILL and PAUL begin to laugh and return to their original seats. TENA pretends to be occupied with putting her book away but her smile is evident. NATE stands in the same spot hitting his forehead with one fist.]
NATE
[He stops the abuse on his forehead and looks at his friends who have finally stopped laughing.]
Finished now? It couldn’t have been that funny.
WILL
That’s not even half of it. Paul knows what I’m talking about, right?
PAUL
Right. How in the world are you two going to dance?
NATE
What’s that supposed to mean? I haven’t even said yes!
TENA
You know you’re going to, you just need to let her know of that. They do bring up a good point though Nate. [Begins to speak in a voice with a hint of sarcasm] I know it’s hard to believe but even if you just slow dance you will be touching. You need to talk to Joy enough where you both feel comfortable touching each other.
NATE
Hardy har har. You all think you’re so clever. Lets not all fail to remember the story of Will’s first slow dance.
PAUL
One word: Frankenstein.
[The gang, minus WILL, begins to laugh. NATE stands up and begins to imitate what WILL must have looked like. NATE’s arms are straight out in front of him and he moves his body stiffly from side to side. However WILL can’t help himself and goes up to PAUL and puts his arms on PAUL’s shoulders to help the group get the image of the memory. COACH enters.]
COACH
What are you guys doing in here? The race is starting soon! I want you all dressed and ready in five minutes! [Coach leaves.]
[PAUL and WILL go behind a wall to change. They are still laughing while TENA is getting her hat and mittens together.]
TENA
Nate, I think you should do whatever you want, but I really do think that you’d enjoy going.
[Suddenly WILL’s voice carries across the room from their changing area]
WILL
Hey Paul if you take me plus you we’re practically naked!
PAUL
Shut up Will!
[NATE and TENA share a laugh but nonetheless move a couple feet away the sound]
NATE
I think you’re right though. I’m going to go talk to her right now actually. [Exits]
TENA
Of course I’m right. [Picks up her jacket and exits]
[WILL and PAUL come back from their changing area. As WILL walks to the middle of the room PAUL sneakily exits]
WILL
Soooo, mister macho Nate are you ready to eat some of my freshly skied snow? [He begins to bend on one knee and flex his arms in strongman poses. Soon however he glances around] Hey where’d everyone go?
COACH
[Sticks his head from outside and yells at WILL]
Will let’s get a move on it!
WILL
Nice to see you as well general!
[WILL salutes COACH while walking towards him and leaving to go outside. COACH rolls his eyes and follows right after him; the stage goes dark]
